Molly – Five Months Old 🎂

Molly turns five months old today. Neither Dan nor I were sure how having a BIG dog in a small house would go, but so far I would say that despite the occasional hiccups, things seem to be going along just fine.

Molly is beginning to find her voice. It is very deep and very loud, but one or two barks and she is done. If another dog is barking at her, one or two Molly barks – and they are done. 🤗

Molly loves to steal shoes and chew on them a bit, but so far she hasn’t totally destroyed any. My black leather heels have a little more character than they used to and Dan really needs new laces for his Sketchers.

We had Molly back in the big pool yesterday. We were totally impressed with how well she was swimming – until we realized that she was just walking around the pool on her hind legs. I guess that is kind of impressive – in its own way .

Molly did really well on her walk today – finally! We walked the trail through the new Regent Park (where three maintenance guys made a huge fuss over her). We walked the entire path at Patricia Park (twice). AND – we practically ran home through the ball diamonds. ☺️
Molly learned to dump her water bowl onto the kitchen floor so Dan scored this beauty for her from Peavy Mart. It stores her food under her dishes and lifts them high enough that they are comfortable for her to eat out of.

  4. Your Molly is so sweet, and a real beauty. I can’t tell you how much she looks like our Zena, our rescue, who is now 14 years old. All that puppy energy is a lot of work but I envy you the many years you have to look forward to enjoying her. I’m now in the “work” stage of having an old lady dog. You can read that sentence in at least two ways. Two old ladies perhaps. 🙂

  5. What a FUN post Anne! She’s so beautiful and finally it sounds like you both are finding your groove together. Most dogs act like puppies close to 2 years old but with all your attention I know each day week and month will get better and better!! Happy 5 months old sweet Molly! 💞🐾🤩

  7. Thank you, Debra. I hope Molly grow up to be a good ‘old lady’ dog. I hope Zena has many good years left. It is hard when they start having arthritis issues and the like.

  8. Thank you, Diana! I can’t imagine Molly acting like a puppy far another nineteen months. 😳 Not sure I want to see her tearing in here and jumping onto my lap when she weighs +/- 100 pounds.
    Our Casey dog (before Kat) matured so young. We got a little blind cat shortly after we got her (at about eight weeks) and she adopted her as her own. Then our first granddaughter was born a few months later and her puppy days were over. She took care of Suzie (the cat), every grandchild that came along, and my Mom who was getting on in years.

    Most dogs love to swim, you only have to find a pond that is a bit deeper…. ha ha ha
    I love her food and drinking station too.

  10. Aww, that’s so sweet of Casey! Hopefully Molly will mature much quicker and not act like a puppy soon and that she’ll be a nicely mannered young lady! ❤️ I’m glad she isn’t destroying too many shoes!

  13. It sounds like all is going well with Molly, she is so smart. Hopefully she will get over her liking to chew shoes. That is a nice feeding station and with Molly being so tall it will probably be much more comfortable for her to it from it. Good to hear you and Molly had a nice walk. Hope your weekend is going well.

  24. I think we all hit plateaus as we improve our fitness. Just keep doing what you have been doing. As for Molly, she looks great. We just had Emmy spayed and are losing our minds keeping her still for two weeks. We had to use sedatives to make sure she didn’t pop her stitches.

  25. Thank you, Elizabeth! Poor Emmy. I hope she recovers without any issues. Three months before Molly can have hers. Maybe we will wait a couple of extra months so she can be slowed down for January/February.
