Daily Food Diary – Day 322 of 365

Today is Day 322 of my Daily Food Diary.  With 46 weeks down, I have a mere 6 weeks left to my 2025 Daily Food Diary Challenge! πŸ’₯

This week, I have been trying to up my activity level.Β  Our weather isn’t really co-operating.Β  Yesterday it rained all day, so none of us went for our daily walk.Β  Today it is foggy, so Dan and Molly went without me.

Yesterday, I did do my aerobics and light weights.Β  I got on the treadmill last night, but had to pull the plug after ten minutes due to a severe coughing fit.Β  Dan and I did give Molly a good brushing yesterday, so that was a workout of sorts.

Molly, showing her appreciation for our efforts. πŸ˜†

Last night, I watched our evening news.  I generally avoid watching our news – preferring to read it online, where I can skip over the articles of little personal interest or those that will just serve to annoy me.

But, last night I watched the evening news.Β  Elections Saskatchewan announced that they were planning to do a test run of phone in voting for our next election, Β  plus they are looking at replacing Election Day with Election Week.Β Β  We currently have Advance Polling, Mail In Voting, Curbside Voting, Homebound Voting, and Personal Care Home and Hospital Voting.Β

In last year’s provincial election, a paltry 54% of eligible voters exercised their right to vote.Β  So, Elections Saskatchewan has decided to take steps to make the election process easier.

Personally, I don’t care how votes are colleced,Β  as long as the votes are legitimate.Β Β

But I don’t believe ‘easier’ is the way to go.Β  I think it cheapens the entire election process.Β Β  Easier seldom means better in my mind and rarely, if ever, brings out the best in people.

Personally, I think we should look deeper if we want to really engage more people in the election process.Β Β  The problem isn’t access, it is apathy.Β  (In my mind)

Any thoughts?

Daily food Diary – Day 134 of 365

It is Day 134 of my Daily Food Diary! Only 231 Days to go until I am a nutritional expert. πŸ˜„

After no sleep the night before, I did not make any great strides on my Health & Fitness Journey yesterday.

It gets incredibly frustrating to be tripping along and then have a massively rough day, when you wonder if you are going to survive – much less ever get back on track to bigger and better things. 😬

Fortunately, yesterday wasn’t a total write off.  Dan and I took Molly for a short walk.  As we were passing the dogpark, Dan noticed that Molly’s friend Willy and his human Randy, were there so we stopped to visit.  Ripple, and his human Lyndon, showed up and Molly wasn’t going anywhere.

I left Dan and Molly at the park and came home to do my aerobic workout.  When Dan got home, we headed out to go shopping.

I used all of our Canadian Tire points on bedding plants but I scored big – several herbs, peppers, strawberries, pansies, AND portulaca.

We moved on to Walmart and bought a new coffee maker, a few groceries, laundry detergent AND dog treats.  We picked up dental treats (pricey but not as bad as dental surgery!), bedtime cookies, and general snack treats.

When we got Molly we paid $250.00 for her  plus took her straight to the vet’s for a checkup and her vaccines (another $250.00 ?).  In the past week, we took her to the vet ($442.00), bath at Pet store ($20.00 incl tip), got her a new bag of dogfood ($60.00) and got her treats… ($60.00).   And she needs a new collar. 🀦 Molly dogs are not for the faint of heart!

Healthwise I am hopefully back on track today.  I slept like a rock last night – ALL NIGHT.   This is my last day of antibiotics, three more days of Prednisone, and if we get past this solid rainy day with 92% humidity – I think I will be good to go! πŸ’ƒ

June 5th – Weekly Health and Fitness Update

I’m kicking off the week with some positive vibes here! I have three chronic lung conditions – asthma, COPD, and bronchiectasis – all of which have kicked into high gear since I developed a lung infection a couple of weeks ago. Forest fire smoke will do that for me, as will excessive heat, and super high humidity. We have been dealing with the trifecta and my lungs are not dealing all that well.

So, it is fight or die AND we all know which direction I am going. 😁

That’s about it for my Health and Fitness Update this week, other than continuing to research yeast intolerances and finding substitutions for some of my favourite foods on the ‘yeasty’ list, like soya sauce, vinegar, anything containing soya sauce or vinegar, sauerkraut, wine, black pepper, breads, breadcrumbs, and the like. The good news is… digestion wise, I am feeling better than I have for YEARS.

The rest of my life is under control. Our garden is in. It isn’t photo ready yet as we have some cleanup to do. It is slow going as I am not a lot of help these days and Dan had to make it Molly proof as we go.

Our front lawn is coming along. Between our monsoon season and Dan’s diligence, it actually has a chance this year to beat out the weeds and bald spots.

My little flowers are just peaking out. This area of the lawn struggles on.
I love my stepping stones after a fresh mowing. This flower bed has a chance to make something of itself with the addition of Peonies from daughter Jen.

I hope to have the garden area and large patio photo ready within the week. Dan lost his Bleeding Heart over the winter but I replaced it with a super pretty plant that I am anxious to share.

I also got my June fridge inspiration sign up a couple of days ago. So far the inspiration is more mental than physical but that’s okay. It all starts with our mindset – and my mind is set to come back STRONGER!

Soon!

That is it for today. Take care and have a great day! πŸŒžπŸ’ž
