Daily Food Diary – Day 47 of 365

I am  47 days in on maintaining and posting my Daily Food Diary.  I am still discovering things about myself and what I consume on any given day.

Yesterday,  I had a bowl of potato chips.   Potato chips are one of my biggest weaknesses. 🙄  I learned years ago to take a small bowl of chips and put the bag back in the pantry.   The bowl I use generally holds one recommended serving of chips.  (Ie:  No Name Spicy Barbecue 23 chips = 260 calories or Ruffles Regular 23 chips = 280 calories or Tostitos Hint of Lime 11 large chips = 250 calories.   Yesterday, I chose Lay’s Classic chips. I had 23 chips,  but Lay’s Classic Chips have a recommended serving of 47 chips = 280 calories!  So 23 chips is only 140 calories.  They are no healthier than any other chips – they have more saturated fat and half the sodium of No Name Spicy Barbecue,  but they are a score if one is just looking to  reduce calories.  👍

It is one week until I see the surgeon about having my hernia surgery redone.  My patience is wearing thin.  I have set aside my strength exercises until I get this matter resolved.   I planned to replace these workouts with walks, which is not happening  as long as it is minus forty out.  So, I have been doing my morning aerobic workouts and forgoing my afternoon workouts.  It is frustrating and I am annoyed that I have not taken up something else in the meantime.  I do have options.  I could do step ups? Wall Pilates? Yoga? I could do a lot of things BUT… But what? 🤔

Time to warrior up!

  1. I’ve been doing well until last night….I too ate chips. Also my weakness! But I stuck to the personal little bag, not a big family sized bag which I’ve been known to eat in two days. Back on the horse today!

  2. Great that you have been doing well, Martha! I don’t think one little bag of chips will throw you far off course. It’s funny how easy it is to limit how much we go at one sitting. There was a time when I could snarf down the better part of a family size bag just munching mindlessly while watching a movie. 🙄

  3. Annemarie,

I know waiting is tough but, please be very careful until your hernia issue is resolved.

    We’re thinking of you!

  4. Thank you, Paul & Betty! I kind of scared myself the night I ended up at the hospital because I couldn’t push it back into place, so I am being careful. It will be easier once I see the surgeon and have an idea how long it will take before he can do the surgery. I do have options that wouldn’t be risky. Also, our weather is supposed to break on Friday – finally! Then we can get out walking regularly.

  5. You sure are a warrior, Anne!! 💪 Looking great! I know a surgery date will be helpful for sure! We are sure here for ya, you were there for my hernia surgery! 🙌🏻 Oh and I ate plain potato chips yesterday too, but out of the bag. 😆
