It is 70 Days since I started my Daily Food Diary. That is 10 WEEKS! Whoo hoo! Only forty two more weeks to go.
This month, I have gone beyond tracking calories and have been tracking how many grams of protein I consume in a day.
In January, I learned how little water I drank. I am still working on it, but I am doing better.
In February, I realized how little it takes to eat a LOT of calories. After one stop for fast food, I realize how easy it would be to consume thousands and thousands of extra calories a day.
In March, I am surprised at how much protein there is in our typical meals. I am not concerned, because I am trying to build muscle, but I am shocked.
For April, I am seriously thinking of tracking my (processed) sugar intake. I am not sure I want to know, but I do know it is a problem. 🤦

Food Diary – Day 70 of 365
Breakfast:
(1) c coffee (2) (.3)
(1) c Raisin Bran (190) (3)
(1/4) c 2% milk (31) (2)
Snacks:
(24) oz water
(1) c Hibiscus Tea
(1) PC matrimonial cake (139) (1)
Supper:
(12) oz carbonated water
(6) oz lean roast beef (328) (44.8)
(2) medium onions cooked w/ roast (88) (3)
(1) c mashed potatoes (113) (1.9)
(1/3) c gravy (20) (.3)
(7) pcs asparagus (23) (2.5)
(1) tsp butter (34)
(1) tbsp horseradish (15)
(1/2) c coleslaw with dressing (114) (1.2)
Total calories: 1113
Total protein: 60 gram
Daily goal for Protein: 46 to 58.5 grams
* Six ounces of lean roast beef is a bizarre amount of roast beef, but I powered through and finished it off! I am sure I used to order 6 oz steaks back in the day, but those days were a while ago! 😯
That’s it for today. Take care and have a great day! ❤️☺️

My sister is a nutritionist, she says sugar has no nutritional value for the human body yet we love it!

The processed sugar for sure. I didn’t know your sister was a nutritionist. She must have the knowledge to be a big help to you! 😉

Congratulations! 70 days woo hoo! 🥳 And I know you’ll make it the whole 365 days. 4 years ago I quit working a graveyard shift, and found a good job working swing shift 2pm to 10:30pm. (I work in a vet lab, I applied at a competitor so it was an easy transition thankfully!) I worked graves for 30+ years and boy did I feel it and one thing that suffered was my diet. I know what you consume affects so many things and I love reading about your journey.
I ate so horribly, lots of fast food meals, only eating two meals a day and it affected my weight as well. Now, I eat smaller meals throughout the day and I’ve lost weight to a steady weight for my height. It’s also so nice to sleep a normal night’s sleep. I’ve never felt better, except I know I could eat even better. I think sugar is one of the hardest things to edit out, oh my how we enjoy our sweet treats!! My daughter and I love to bake too!!! ☺️ Hahaha, it will always be a work in progress and I suppose will power and maybe we can edit the sweets down eventually! You are so inspiring, I’m definitely very inspired to eat even a little bit healthier each day!! 💖🤗

Thank you for the beautiful comment, Diana! The only thing worse than straight night shifts, are 24/7 shifts. Bad for the entire family. I am glad you were able to switch to the swing shift and that you have been able to work on your health since you made the shift. We used to eat a lot of takeout or quick easy meals – high in calories, low in nutrition – and all pricey to boot. Have a great day, Diana!💞🌞

Thank you, Terry! We just got back from a nice walk. We are fortunate to have so many well kept walking/biking paths around Regina. 🌞

The cake and frosting look delicious. Did you provide the recipes and I missed them? I am a sucker for frosted cake!

Annemarie, congrats on a milestone. Glad you mentioned fast foods. Calories and fried foods. The movie “Supersize me” speaks volumes. Plus the cost of all those calories. If we must eat a burger, a kids meal will do or a burger sans fries and drink. Keith

I didn’t provide the recipe for this one. It was a salted caramel cake with icing to match. I got the recipe off the internet and I didn’t print it out. It was amazing tho! (This photo was from a couple of years ago)

Thank you, Keith. It’s funny you mention a kids meal. I have one son who was born with a huge appetite (and the energy to burn through calories). When he was a tot, I would order an adult meal for myself and a kids meal for him. He would keep the toy from his meal, but I would swap my meal for his.

I know you haven’t heard from me for a long time but I’m back. I have been on a diet to reduce IBSD. It is working. Just so you know it has recommended a switch from processed sugar to “raw sugar” really name is something like Turbinado?

It is so good to hear from you, Suzanne! Is IBSD the same as IBS? My daughter has struggled with that since she was a child. Thank you for sharing this suggestion. I will check it out. Have a great evening! 💗🤗

That is interesting tracking Anne. I don’t mind giving you all the icing 😁.
Are the flowers from your garden?

Thank you! And I would be grateful for your icing! Most of the flowers are ones that we have had in our yard over the past few years. A few are ones I came across on walks or bouquets Dan has given me over the years.

We have lots of great and well-maintained trails around Weyburn too, Annemarie.

My sister lives there. Her and her husband walk A LOT. I think they walk along the river?

Yes, there are a couple of great trails that follow the river. There are several others too, but those by the river are my faves.

Maybe you will cross paths some day. My sister is Elaine (John) Weger. They have only lived there for a few years. Their son Mike (Cara) has been there longer.
