Daily Food Diary – Day 311 of 365

Today is Day 311 of my Daily Food Diary. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Today we woke up to the first notable snowfall of the season.

With plus 9 degree C temperatures expected Monday, this snow won’t last, but the air was crisp and clean when we walked Molly earlier.ย

Fortunately, Dan took the leash while Molly bopped around, zigging and zagging to sniff out anything buried under the fresh snow.ย  I followed behind, grateful to stay vertical on the snowy sidewalks and icy streets.

Tonight we are celebrating the arrival of winter with a pot of ground beef, vegetable, & barley soup.

Other than that, we don’t have any major plans today.  I have a list of small chores to get done around the house, some aerobics and and a weight session to do, and possibly a batch of cheese biscuits and/or snickerdoodles to get in the oven.  โ˜บ๏ธ

Daily Food Diary – Day 233 of 365

Today is Day 233 of my Daily Food Diary! ๐ŸŽ‰

Yesterday our family acquired a newly licensed driver. (Learners license, but still!)

They grow up too fast!

From day one, Maddy was determined to be “one of the big kids” like her older siblings Genie and Rory.ย ย  She has done a good job of becoming a mature and responsible young lady.

But, to be honest I never thought she would be determined enough to embrace driving.  She just doesn’t seem to be the ‘driver’ type.  (Unlike younger sister Prim who can’t wait to get behind the wheel!)

Not only does Maddy have her license, but last night she took her first drive in the country with her Mom.ย  She got behind the wheel andย  drove a few miles before swerving to avoid hitting a dog.ย  As she left the gravel road and hit the ditch, she remembered her driver trainer’s instructions and kept her wheels straight.ย

First challenge in the driver’s seat and she handled it like a pro.ย  The dog is fine, Maddy & Mom are fine, my Taurus is almost fine – and the heat shield for my Taurus is in the trunk. ๐Ÿ™„

Good job Maddy! ๐Ÿ’ž

Daily Food Diary – Day 205 of 365

It is Day 205 of my Daily Food Diary! ๐Ÿ™Œ

I am posting a bit later than usual this morning because I went to see my respiratory therapist for my annual lung function test.ย

The test itself is not going to win any awards – or bring up any discussion of oxygen tanks ๐Ÿค—, but it was a good appointment.

Katie cut me some leeway for the muscle I pulled during a coughing fit yesterday.ย  It was painful when I did it, and much worse after I had a hot bath.ย  But Dan rubbed CBD oil on the affected area three times and I put an ice pack on it twice.ย  It is much better today, but still tender enough to be an issue doing all the deep breaths for the tests

Also, this past week has been horrid for humidity and forest fire smoke – both of which have a detrimental effect on my breathing.ย ย  The good news is that today the humidity is down and the smoke is gone!

I told Katie that I was feeling much better this year because I had gotten a handle on my diet – especially my sugar consumption.ย  I mentioned that my Daily Food Diary helped immensely in making me more mindful of what I was eating. (Especially my ‘throughout the day’ snacking).ย ย  She said she had a relative who was struggling with her diet, and she was going to mention this to her.ย  Then she said how much she enjoys my appointments because she always learns something new.ย ย  I appreciate how much I have learned from Katie over the years, but it made me feel really good that I have been giving something back.

Finally, I don’t usually wear nail polish but I had done my nails for Genie & Alec’s wedding last week.ย  I had to remove the nail polish before I went for my appointment.ย  I noticed that my nails are significantly stronger and healthier since I started taking collagen supplements a couple of weeks ago.   That was a bonus that I was not expecting this soon! ๐Ÿ‘
