Daily Food Diary – Day 301 of 365

Today is Day 301 of my Daily Food Diary!  That is 43 WEEKS without a single miss. πŸ™Œ

Today, I am feeling a solid improvement in how I am feeling!  I am four months into using Collagen Supplements and they are doing wonders for me.  My strength has improved, my endurance has improved, and best of all – my breathing has significantly improved.    I can breathe without feeling like my sinuses and respiratory airways are  collapsing and I can even lay flat on my back  without feeling like I am smothering!

My only respiratory issues these days are obviously caused by allergies.  Since we started running an air purifier in our bedroom at night, I am good there.  In the daytime, my eyes are burning, my nose is runny, and I am still coughing.

The third Honeywell air purifier we have bought and I am happy with all of them.

We have our best air purifier running in the living room so I’m not sure what my problem is.   I have taken Claritin (which doesn’t work for me) and  some ‘natural’ antihistamines which just seem to make me sleepy. 😴

Yesterday, I got some black licorice to see if that would help.Β  I know it is something that is not good to eat regularly or in excess, but it also helps to control allergies,  so we will see.Β

Daily Food Diary – Day 35 of 365

If our local groundhog declared an end to winter earlier this week, Mother Nature did not get the message.

We got a fresh drop of snow last night, we are expecting a lot more in the next forty eight hours, and while our temperatures are out of the deep freeze, they are  far from balmy.

The good news is, our weather has us craving comfort food, much of which is nutritionally sound.   Our stew last night was full of protein and fresh vegetables and I’m thinking chilli could be on the menu tonight.

This fresh snow also provides an opportunity for a good workout and fresh air.   That snow isn’t going to clear itself and even if Dan gets our (NEW) snowblower back up and running, there are places a snowblower just can’t go.

Daily Food Diary – Day 12 of 365

Day 12 and another day in the life of my sometimes questionable eating habits.Β  But then that is what this exercise is all about – catching those habits that I allow to creep into my life, dealing with them, and building better ones along the way.

I have had a couple of good questions/suggestions on here that I decided to  touch on this morning.

The first has been “It would be interesting to see you include all of the water you drink in a day”.Β Β Β  Actually, I do.Β  Unfortunately, my water (especially plain straight out of the Britta filter jug) is limited.Β  Carbonated water is limited to supper and into the evening.Β  It is something I should work on so I will make that my mission this week…

The second has been “Do you skip lunch? It seems you only eat two meals a day?” Yes and no.Β  If I have something light for breakfast, fruit or a bowl of cereal, I will have it relatively early, have lunch at about twelve noon and supper at about six.Β  If I have a larger breakfast, bacon and eggs type thing, it will be later in the morning so serves as brunch.Β  Breakfast has likewise always been a struggle for me and is moresoΒ  since I have had to quit eating yeast and had to cut back on sugar. I feel much better – but it’s a struggle!

I appreciate any questions and/or advice.Β  I’m never too old to learn something new,  or to take a bit of outside pressure to push through change.Β  πŸ€—

Year Two – Week Thirteen & Fourteen

I’m back! It has been a few days since I have been on here, but fortunately it is not because I fell off of my Health & Fitness journey. I have just been rather busy. πŸ™„

First off, it has been mostly beautiful weather here so I have been outside cleaning up the yard and getting ready for summer. Secondly, we took a short trip up north to visit son Dan and family – and to help them prepare for granddaughter Gabby’s graduation party I did a lot of baking (while Dan was out shopping for a lot of fresh fruit to serve with said baking.) Third, I have been working really diligently to stay on course with my health and fitness program.

Getting There…

Speaking of health and fitness… Physically things have been going well. I did faceplant on our cement patio (chasing Molly) a few days ago. My skin has mostly grown back but my glasses were a write off – hence the new look.

Mentally and emotionally, I am crushing it. I am reading “Be Your Future Self Now” by Dr. Benjamin Hardy. It is one of those works that is just brilliant. There is so much wisdom to be found in every chapter. One such example “We all have a future ahead of us. In 10 years, 20 years, we will become our future selves. The question is: Who will your future self be?

If I had stayed the course fifteen months ago, my future self would have been pretty pathetic. Right now, I would be pretty pathetic – and miserable to boot. I am so grateful that I began making better choices last February. I am reaping the rewards now and loving it! πŸ’–

I have started a timeline for becoming my future self. I have already reached my first goal – to be calm and confident. There’s always room for improvement (and I intend to keep working on it) but I have to say, I crushed it this weekend. My next goal is to be healthy, strong, and fit by August 11th. I am working hard to get there! Every goal met is encouragement to set more and to improve further on the ones I reach. Exciting stuff!

That’s about where I am at these days. We were not at Dan and Amanda’s for long this weekend, but husband Dan did manage to get a few cute photos of grandson Lucas hanging out with Molly. Molly was amazing this weekend. She even spent a fair amount of time strolling around leashless which was pretty cool to see. She was SO happy loping around free and easy.

That’s it for today. I hope everyone is keeping well. Take care and have a great rest of the day! πŸŒžπŸ’ž

Eight Days In!

Dan and I have been working out together every day – for eight days straight now!Β  It is still a lot of fun and somehow we are managing to get in a pretty good workout despite our limited space. My sister (Lorraine) thinks I should do a blog on how to workout in a small house without destroying the wall mount television and/or the kitchen sink. It is in the works! πŸ˜‰

We are also starting to put more health conciousness into our meals.  It’s not that hard when Dan is here to peel and chop.  Our snacks still need work. πŸ™„

Dinner salad – Lettuce, cucumbers, peppers, radishes, green onions, broccoli, spicy air frier pork, homemade croutons and sesame seeds.. mmmm!)
Bran, molasses, coconut & walnut muffins.  The molasses, coconut, and walnuts almost mask the taste of the bran. πŸ‘
Chilli with plenty of fresh vegetables – peppers, celery, onions, garlic, mushrooms, and canned tomatoes and kidney beans!

Between the workouts, the improved diet, the meditating, and the new mattress that we bought lately (to ensure a better night’s sleep), Β  it is looking like a healthier, happier life for both of us.Β  πŸ’ͺ

Keep well and stay safeπŸ’ž
