I took Molly in for her Parvo vaccine and initial puppy checkup yesterday. I was a bit concerned about driving there alone because I had no idea how she would be in the Jeep, so asked granddaughter Genie if she had time to come with us. Fortunately she obliged!
First off, Molly was quite happy to have her first visitor. She bonded quite easily with Genie – and had her first opportunity to sit on the sofa. 😲
Everything went great. Molly was fine in the Jeep. She laid down in the back with her head poking through between the front seats. Out of the vehicle, she was quite happy to walk nicely beside Genie on her leash.
Molly weighed in at 10 kilograms (22.4 pounds). She let Genie lift her onto the vet’s table and distract her while she got a complete once over (including getting her temperature taken 😳). Everything checked out fine so she got her vaccine. The only ‘glitch’ is that because of the high risk of Parvo right now, she cannot go out of our yard until she has had the next two booster shots. (8 weeks I think). It isn’t a big deal now, but I was hoping to have her totally used to taking walks around the neighborhood before she got much bigger. At least we have a big yard to practice in.
We came back home. Molly and Genie played and cuddled until Dan came home – because Genie can’t leave without seeing Grandpa and getting her obligatory hug. 💞
Today, Molly has been a little under the weather. She had a bit of ‘intestinal trouble’ this morning, so I gave her a tablespoon of pumpkin which seems to have taken care of things. She is starting to perk up now.

That is it for Molly news today. Take care and have a great rest of the day.
Leave it is a command I use with nitro also. along with drop it especially when he takes my shoes and runs away with them lol 😂😂😂

Molly likes to sneak past Dan with one of his shoes in her mouth. 😂. We are working on a number of commands right now. At this stage, every moment is a teachable moment. 🙂. How old is Nitro?

My boy is 11 now, he’s getting on, heartbreaking that he’s getting old, I can’t bear to be without him 🥹

That is the hardest thing for sure. I hope you will be ok when his time does come. 💞

I’m sure I will, he won’t be the first dog I’ve lost 💝

We have lost three since I am with Dan. They were all hard but Kat was the worst. It was just so sudden and so tragic. She was young. She was only nine. 😢

I know, it’s so sad, what breed of dog was cat

She was a Cavalier – a miniature spaniel. One size down from a Cocker Spaniel.

I’m glad that Molly’s checkup went well, Anne! I was thinking that maybe it would be safe for Molly to ride with you someplace where the chance of coming upon other dogs is nill so that you can walk her? Bonding time too!

I asked, but she doesn’t have to come in contact with other dogs – even if she came across feces from an infected dog, so I would never know if was a safe place or not. She is safe in our yard so that is where she stays. 🙂

Molly is a beautiful girl. Better safe than sorry, so good taking care. And yes, they do love to (and need to) chew. Ours always did their best with Kongs, but Sam did have this thing for my Italian leather high heels. Taught me not to leave them out where I kicked them off!

I agree about taking it safe. I asked the vet what would be best for her to chew on and she suggested one of those rope toys, soaked in water, and set in freezer before giving it to her to chew on. We had kongs for Casey and Kat and they wouldn’t look at them.

Ours loved those rope toys, too…but those strings!

At least they aren’t feathers or glitter like the granddaughters crafting box always had. 😂

Glad to hear all went well with Molly and the vet visit. It sounds like you all had a fun time with her. I had to laugh about her trying to sneak by Dan with his shoe. She is smart and I know you will have her trained in a very short time. She is doing very well from what I read about her.

Thank you, Mags. Molly is smart – that could pose a few challenges when she hits puberty and a hundred pounds. I am sure we have some interesting times ahead. 🙄

I am pretty sure too that you have interesting times ahead. But you are going to enjoy that sweet girl. Thank you for sharing the adventures with her, Anne.

Glad to hear that the checkup went well and you didn’t have any issues bringing her to and from the vet. What a good girl. She’s so cute.

The vet was impressed that she had been so well socialized before we got her. 😊

I am catching up in reverse order, but I see that she has indeed discovered chewing! We had to keep ours away like that for the first couple of months too.

We keep all the doors we can closed so we can teach her one room at a time. 😉
