Thirty-eight days in and this isn’t shaping up to be a good one. A few years ago this would have been one of those days that put me over the edge – or at least kept me clinging to it for dear life.
There is nothing drastically wrong in my life today. It is just one of those days where every little thing goes wrong.
I woke up to a balmy minus 40C (feels like). In reality it was only minus 30C. I made sausage and egg breakfast sandwiches and Dan’s sausage decided not to cook. My computer was glitching, also my phone. My phone worked, it just refused to make calls. Since Dan was going to drive our Maddy to work, I needed to call her to make sure she was ready. Dan took the garbage out when he left. I got into a battle with the new garbage bag. I wanted to put it in the garbage can and it did not want to go. Ultimately, I prevailed, but things got ugly. Meanwhile, Molly dog was on a tear while I was trying to do a video for my accountability group. Again, I prevailed but not before I accidentally deleted my video. Finally, I managed to complete my aerobics without incident but I have been experiencing coughing and sneezing fits ever since. Sigh…
It could be a long day. I might even make a few poor food choices. π But this will be a good day to mark on my diary, because I know that tomorrow is another day – and it will be better! Looking back through this year, there will be more days like today – and more better days that follow. And this Daily Food Diary will be the solid proof I need to remind myself that such is life.

(I knew that one was going to be ugly! π)

I’m trying to lose weight and have been exercising, riding my bike and eating healthy. This week my husband ended up in the emergency room and was finally admitted. After he got to his room and I was assured he would be okay for the night, I went home. BUT on the way I stopped by Taco Bell and ordered way too much rood and a soda. Oh well! I think I can allow myself one day off to give way to the stress.

And I was saying yesterday that everything is a battle, tying a shoe, getting your pants on or off and many other little things. Almost nothing runs or goes smoothly from day to day, Anne. Better days are ahead! π€π»

I hope your husband will be ok. π I ended up in emergency a few weeks ago when my hernia popped out and I couldn’t manipulate it back in. Fortunately, the situation resolved itself in a few hours and we were able to leave. We stopped at Burger King on the way home. No regrets! π. Keep up the good work. It sounds like you have a good program going. One glitch isn’t going to undo everything you have been doing. Take care and I hope your husband is well and home soon.

When Iβm trying to lose a few lbs, I allow myself one or two higher calorie days per week. I call them my βdays offβ because I donβt consciously count or record the calories on those days, nor do I do my power walks on those days. I still move about doing other things, just not as aggressively. Youβre doing a great thing by staying aware, Annemarie and itβs going to be an exciting learning experience for you.

Thank you, Terry! I did download that app you recommended, ‘I Lose’ I think. I’ve looked at it but not quite up to speed. When I used calorie counting before, I didn’t count calories on Sundays. I didn’t go all in on eating anything and everything, but I didn’t count calories. I read somewhere that we shouldn’t use food as a reward for eating well. It made sense to me.

I think thereβs one called iLoseweight. Thatβs not the one I have, Annemarie. The one I have is called Lose It and itβs very user friendly.

I used the free one for a couple of years, Annemarie. Then they had a good special on the paid one, so I took that last year.
