Today is Day 250 of my Daily Food Diary! 🥰
Today is off to a bit of a rocky start. It is Day 6 of my latest round of antibiotics and oral steroids for a lung infection. I don’t know if there are any prescription medications that agree with me, but I do know Prednisone is not one of them.
This morning, I made Dan and I each a Cheese Biscuit breakfast sandwich. I took my Prednisone and set off on our morning walk with Dan and Molly. I made it about four blocks before I was feeling so wobbly, that I decided I had better head back home. Dan and Molly walked me back and I am fine, but definitely not the start of my week that I was hoping for. 😥
But the day has just begun and yesterday made a good turn around for me!
Yesterday morning, my glasses met with an unfortunate fatal incident. I found an older pair of single vision glasses and decided they would have to do until I got in to see my optometrist. I wasn’t thrilled but, you do what you have to do!
For over a decade, I have been wearing progressive bifocals. I have never been particularly happy with them, but I got used to dealing with them. The biggest issue was the bottom part of the lens that was set for reading. I never could read through them (I just read without glasses) and I struggled to go down steps or walk outside on any uneven ground.

So yesterday, I put on my old single vision glasses and didn’t notice much difference puttering around indoors. I stepped outside onto the back landing, and when I went to go down the steps EVERYTHING was in perfect focus. I walked around our yard in complete confidence – over uneven ground, cracked sidewalk, anything. It was amazing. This morning, on my short walk, I also noticed a drastic difference on the streets and sidewalks.
I can’t wait to see my optometrist to get a new (updated prescription) for a pair of glasses that work FOR ME!

Prednisone did not agree with my sister-in-law either. Glad to hear you are OK.

Thank you, Geoff. I seem to get worse side effects from the Prednisone every round. Fortunately, I don’t usually have to take it often.

I was prescribed progressive lenses about 25 years ago, and they never worked for me, no matter how many times they were updated over the years. I wore them on the top of my head more than on my face. I finally stopped buying glasses because of that. I wish you luck with getting single vision, if that’s what you’re going for, Anne.

Your frames are very similar to mine, the part that holds the lenses. I have tri-focals, the bottom is for up close, the top for distance and the middle for everything else, works great! The soup looks so delicious! Taking a steroid is never fun but they do work well for me, gladly its very rare I need them. Maybe you can use your old glasses instead?

I’ll talk to the optometrist and consider my options. I am definitely going no reading lens. I don’t know how these work for anybody. 🤔

Thank you, John. It was delicious! I have to get the prescription checked at the very least. These glasses were like 3 sets back. I’m glad your progressives work for you! 👍

They sure do work well. It is time to check the prescription after that much time. I recently needed a new scrip and got some nearly round frames which look good on me but the part that goes behind your ears was never comfy on the right so I went back to the previous scrip and frames. The difference is very tiny. Kinda got ripped off??

These older ones of mine stay on really well and they don’t bother me at all.

Excited about your new glasses, I do like your older ones too! Will be perfect when you get your updated prescription! Your soup looks yummy and you gave me an idea I forgot about, ham in a breakfast sammy. Avery can’t have egg but this weekend I could do a ham, cheese and breakfast sausage one for him! 😃 Have a great day!

Thank you, Jackie! I like breakfast sandwiches with sausage patties but I accidentally opened two packages of ham this weekend so had to hide the evidence. 😂
