Daily Food Diary – Day 60 of 365

I am SIXTY DAYS into my Daily Food Diary. I only have three hundred and fifteen days to go and I have this challenge in the bag. ☺️

It is Sunday morning.  I am about to start cooking up our Sunday Brunch.  We are having pancakes and sausage this morning, so it will be interesting to see how I do protein wise today.  😯

This afternoon, we are heading across the city to the Regina General Hospital.  I am having a CT Scan that the surgeon wants to see before he does my hernia surgery.  It’s odd that they book CT Scans on Sunday but it’s got to be done, and I know I am fortunate that they were able to get me in so quickly. πŸ˜‰

Daily Food Diary – Day 5 of 365

Good morning!  Five days down and only three hundred and sixty to go!

When I decided to do this 365 day Food Diary, my first concern was to make it as ‘doable’ as possible.

Choosing the best time of day was my biggest challenge.  Retirement is an ongoing battle between getting things done and  keeping my schedule flexible enough that I FEEL retired.   I have found a pretty solid spot, between my morning coffee and newspaper and doing my morning workout.   So far so good! πŸ‘

My second challenge was tracking what I consumed throughout the day, so my diary would be as accurate as possible.

It’s not pretty,  but it is convenient.  And we have an endless supply of such notepads around here. (And pens!)

Day Five of Daily Food Diary…

(1) c coffee

(2) potato patties

(1/2) tomato

(4 1/2) slices thin sliced bacon

(2) eggs

(1) c tea

(2) chocolates

(1) Burger King Single Whopper without bun or cheese

(1) Order medium onion rings w/ gravy

(12) oz water

Sunday brunch πŸ’ž

Burger King was not part of the plan yesterday.  After spending over three hours at Emergency, due to a hernia issue that refused to resolve itself, I just wasn’t excited about making supper at 9:30 pm.  This morning,  Dan said he had no idea what I was capable of, if I was willing to sit in an emergency room for three hours just to score Burger King.  Have to keep him guessing!  πŸ˜‚

Take care and have a great day! πŸŒžπŸ’ž

January 30th – Kitchen Duty

The last couple of weeks have been rather hit and miss when it came to home cooking so it is time to get back to pulling some kitchen duty.

Dan was home last night so it was a good evening to cook up a package of (frozen) shrimp we picked up last week. They were smallish shrimp so they were not the best – and they were a pain to clean, but overall the meal was doable. Dan helped by de-veining the shrimp and slicing up the garlic, onions, and mushrooms. πŸ€—

Frying a bit of garlic in butter to start the shrimp off with.
Sliced onions and mushrooms were added to the garlic.
Seasoning a small beef tenderloin that we would share. (Small but THICK)
Supper is served – Shrimp, garlic, mushrooms, onions and herbs on a bed of Fettuccine Alfredo, grilled steak and asparagus on the side. With ice water. 😊

Being Sunday, we started today off with a brunch of bacon, eggs, and toast. To be honest, we started the day off with coffee and by the time I had the bacon cooked, it was brunch time. (Ok! It was lunch time but we still called it brunch.)

I always cook more than enough bacon so we have some on hand for Caesar salad and the like. (This past summer I discovered egg salad sandwiches with bits of warmed bacon sprinkled on the eggs – SO GOOD!)
Brunch is served!

That’s it for today. Take care and have a great day!πŸ’ž
