The temperature is finally breaking into single digits today and I am home with the flu. I spent the weekend making home made chicken soup and taking care of my sick husband and he has decided to share. It is miserable having aches and pains, sore throat, runny nose, headache and heavy chest.

I get a bonus when I am home sick during the week. My dog takes it personally. She pouts, glares at me and goes to the back door on a regular basis. When I drag myself over to open the door, she looks at me as if to say ” Not me, you get out!”. I have no idea what she does when I go to work all day but I have a feeling she will not be impressed when I retire in a few months.

Wow, I hope you both feel much better soon AnneMarie! The flu totally sucks. I believe your dog knows well that you aren’t feeling good, they can sense this and tend to hang close to the owners. Your dog is so cute! 🥰

Thank you, John. We had a dog named Casey who was very empathetic to people and other animals. This little hairball is pretty much oblivious. She is good for comic relief though and she is cute.

Get well soon. I am taking as much vitamine C as I can + raw garlic (someone said that it is a natural antibiotic)…and, yes, cold showers (they seem to boost the immune system.. ) and cold plunges in a nearby lake (in mid-winter and, for now, I have managed to stay away from the flu

My husband and I have been drinking fresh hot lemonade with honey often, and cover the mouth and nose with mask or scarf when you are outside in the cold air can protect your throat and chest. I hope you both get well soon, Annemarie xx
