We finally did it! I took Molly for her first official walk yesterday. We went around our block and to say it went badly is an understatement. She had two speeds – fast and stop and she insisted on walking right in front of me or right behind me (perpendicular to me of course π).

This morning Molly seemed bored. (Sometimes, it is hard to tell if Molly is bored or tired, but when she stole the bra out of my drawer and went racing around the yard with it flapping in the wind , she didn’t appear to be tired). I decided this could be as good a time as ever to try walking her again. I traded her a Milk Bone for my bra and got her into her harness and leash.
Today went much better. I took Molly to the ball diamonds across the street (a ways) from our house.

Molly did fairly well on the way to the ball diamonds. I took her into one of the diamonds and walked the bases with her, teaching her to walk nicely on my left side. It took about 30 sudden u-turns but she got the hang of it and walked home like a pro – even when we had to walk past the scary miniature dachshund (in the fenced in yard ten feet from where we were walking).

We practiced sitting to wait before crossing our street. Finally, I stopped for a chat with Liam and Molly sat (occasionally rolled) patiently.
All in all, today went pretty well. It will be interesting to see if she remembers the lessons tomorrow and fun to see how things progress on busier and more distracting paths.
That is it for today. Take care and have a great day! ππ
Wow, Anne, she has got so big so quickly! It’s a bummer to see the mud on her beautiful coat. Happy Sunday!

Thank you John. Most of the mud brushed right out. The rest will be gone by tonight. π Have a great day!

That sounds like a great first two times! I do confess to laughing at the image of her racing around the yard with your bra! We occasionally have to do a trade around here, too, and sometimes, Steffi will bring you something because she knows it will result in a trade, which I tend to think is better than eating something she should not! Good work for both of you!

Glad you enjoyed Molly’s little episode. Fortunately, the only people who can see such carryings on are our new next door neighbours. (who are they going to tell? π). Molly brings me stuff to trade too, but it is usually garbage that has blown into our yard. I have to start the negotiations for anything I really want.

That’s typical dog….. rolling into the one patch of mud arround π
Molly looks great, and she has grown too.

Luckily her coat cleans easily. Grown she has and she has quite a ways to go!

I laughed so hard…I could vividly picture in my mind Molly running around the yard with your bra. It sounds like her walk training is going to go well. You both looked like walking pros all ready to get going. Both of you are still doing great with her training.

It was hard to cringe and laugh at the same time but I did find Molly’s run amusing. The walking is giving me a chance to rework all of Molly’s other commands. I have had so many other people tell me of Pyrenees they have known who grew up to be just the best dogs. I sure hope I can do Molly justice.

That was really funny about the bra! However, practice makes perfect so if sounds like you have a good handle on walking.

Oh Molly. Of course she has to roll around in the patch of mud. Hopefully she gets better with each walk.
