Over my lifetime, I have set several health and wellness goals for myself (all to be attained within a specific time period). Goals such as – lose 20 pounds in one month π, quit smoking tomorrow, do 20 push-ups (so far my personal best is zero) … that kind of thing. No plan or idea of how it was going to happen or how I would reach my goal.
When I began my Health and Fitness Journey four and a half years ago, I went into it with no specific goals. I just decided that I had to start working out on a regular basis to build up strength and stamina. I committed to reaching 30 minutes per day and went from there. Gradually, my journey included working on my diet and my mental and emotional/spiritual health. This worked for me. I have developed a new and healthier lifestyle.
My personal health, fitness level, and overall quality of life has improved significantly! (I don’t see the pushups ever happening but who knows. π€·ββοΈ)
Early this year, I decided to set a GOAL. I decided that in 2026 I would take a live, in person aerobics class!
I have never, ever, had any desire to take part in any live, in person fitness class. My fitness level is uniquely mine and I cannot see myself ever fitting into a one size fits all type of class – or even a class specifically aimed at people with my particular health and fitness challenges, for that matter. Actually, any class with live, in person people. Twelve like minded people, in any room at the same time, is at least six people too many as far as I am concerned.
Anyway… so far this year, nothing has inspired or prepared me to move towards my 2026 goal. I do not have a plan.. or a concept of a plan.
So, rather than writingΒ off the rest of 2026 stressing over a goal that I have no intention of meeting, I have decided to make a commitment to refocus on my physical, mental, and emotional well- being.
1) By working out regularly – with specific efforts on building up stamina on my treadmill and strength by doing aerobics with light weights.
2) By challenging myself mentally – reading, writing, and engaging in mental exercises and games/puzzles.
3) By committing time daily to healing emotionally and spiritually – connecting with nature, meditating, and the like.
No goals.. Just a plan to do better, be better, and Live Better!
That is it for today! Take care and have a great day! π π

You look great, Anne! I agree, taking a class with other people is not my style, nor was it in high skewl. π Keep up the good work. ππ»πͺπ»βΊοΈ

I have three main guidelines that I apply to most goals.
1. The old stand-by “How do you eat an elephant?” (one bite at a time)
2. If I can do an inch…I can do a mile!
3. Do it now!

Thank you, John! I doubt that I will ever get over school gym classes.

I despised HS and elementary school as I was soooo shy and picked on. π‘

The entire town where I lived was so miserable and entitled, people didn’t like themselves much less anyone else. They found anyone’s weak spot and used it as a weapon. The teachers were as bad as the students (except for Mr. And Mrs. Mitten! Awesome couple.)

Wow, I’m sorry it was that way Anne. π

I feel sorry for them. The people of that town are still the same. Probably worse. I got out. π

Good evening Annemarie! (I think I told you, my real middle name is Marie.) I never use my real name for sites though. Hope your day was productive and satisfying.

Hi Vero (not your real name π). I think my parents managed to work Marie into all of sisters names as well as mine. It was a good day – although all of these horrid aphids are taking the fun out of my time spent out of doors. πͺ²

I agree that working with weights is beneficial for any number of reasons – even light ones.

I’ve never been able to make myself take a fitness class or go to a gym.

I don’t blame you, Anne! And it is not like a person cannot get fit without taking such a course.

I hear you about group classes, Anne – definitely βnotβ my cuppa either. Youβre looking fantastic and Iβll bet youβre feeling so much better than you were before you started your health and fitness journey. Iβm headed to Regina today for a girlsβ outing with my sis in law. Weβll be staying in the city overnight. Iβll fire you a txt later on and maybe you and I can arrange a coffee meetup either this afternoon or tomorrow.

Sometimes the goals change, but the intention to keep growing, expanding, and improving doesnβt. Hereβs to continuing to grow and live better, one day at a time. β€οΈ
