Year Two – Week Ten

It is one year and ten weeks since I decided to get healthier and more active. I am still committed as ever despite the setbacks I have encountered. It’s definitely the lifestyle I embrace these days.

Since I was deemed healed from my broken arm, I have been working my way back up in my workout intensity. I am doing full-on two armed Zumba. (Which is way easier, graceful, and less confusing than trying to do Zumba with one arm).

I have been out walking with Molly as much as possible – which is when Dan or daughter Jen are available to hold her leash. I would love to walk her more but I can’t trust her if I am holding her leash. She was doing well last fall, until I was down with the flu followed by the broken arm. Now, not so much.

A few days ago, Dan and I were taking Molly somewhere in the Jeep. Dan went out to get ready, while I leashed her up and walked her out. She was fine. We got to the sidewalk and Dan opened the back hatch of the Jeep. We were ten feet away from it. Molly got so excited she jumped right in. The leash I was holding her by was six feet long. 🀦

She looks so innocent!
At least our streets and sidewalks are finally free of snow and ice. Still unsightly, but nice for walking…

The good news is that I am crushing my evening workouts. This week I am back to using my five pound weights. Yay! I am not struggling with the heavier dumbbells. I have cut back on reps and sets, and I have switched things up to doing arm and back exercise one night, hips and legs the next, so I am not doing the same muscles on consecutive nights. πŸ’ͺ🌟🦡

We are also still working on improving our diet by consistently planning ahead. Dan is really helping out with that. He seems to find it easier to come up with one weekly meal plan on Sunday night, than he does offering up a suggestion for one meal that can be prepared and served in half an hour – five or six consecutive nights of the week. Go figure!

That’s my health and fitness update for this week. Take care and have a great sunny rest of the day! πŸ’žπŸŒž

Can’t wait to see some green grass and flowers. 😊

June 15th

Just another day in June! Β We finished putting up our pool yesterday.Β  With temperatures heading into the 30+ Celsius range on Saturday, weΒ  are right on time.Β  We are supposed to see some rain this afternoon, but the sun is still shining so I may be helping nature out with the watering hose if things do not proceed as planned.

A few more photos that I took this morning:

Molly, snacking on a Cedar.
Our first Strawberry
Dan’s Bleeding Heart is starting to bloom.
My elephant Marigolds by my meditating chair

That’s it for today. Take care and have a great day!

Day 8 – Flower Power

Our yard is not bursting with color yet, but we do have perfect little blossoms popping up here and there. For day eight of my June ‘Accentuate the Positive’ challenge, I have chosen to share a few of my favourite little buds.

Violet and pink verbena
Dan’s favourite – multi-colour portulaca
Petunias by the pond.
More Petunias by the pond.
I love these wild marigolds! πŸ’ž
And more Petunias by the pond!
Nameless gnome guarding our new marigolds.
This is a perennial that we have had for years. The cutest puff of color when it is fully in bloom.
Not blooming yet, but these Coral Bells add color to our front yard. 😊
My sister and I used to help my great uncle pick the blossoms off of his chives. I always thought it was such a pity. They are so pretty!

Spring is such a great time of year! Everytime we go outside there is a new treasure to be found. πŸ€—

Eight days down, twenty two to go. Have a lovely day and I hope to see you tomorrow! 🌞

March On!

We have moved into March and life gets better every day!

Sunshine and warmer temps!

Dan and I are starting a new month of workouts. I lost a grand total of 1 1/2 pounds in February.

This month we are going to get seriously focussed on our eating habits.

No more brownies with cream cheese icing😒

My little seedlings are breaking ground. I can hardly wait until I can get them out in our garden. 🌱

Have a great month! & Stay safeπŸ’ž

Another Day In The Life Of..

Dan is back on shift today. Kat and I bounced to life at 5:30 a. m. Granted, one of us had more life than the other at that ungodly hour. I fed Kat, had my morning infusion of coffee and spent some time reading the news and checking out Facebook. Neither brightened my day.

I had a hearty brunch at 9:00. That perked me up. I went outside and started painting planters. I am down two with thirty six to go!

I stopped for a bit of a break and my brat of a granddaughter snuck in and scared the life out of me.

Genie sporting her new glasses.

The grocery stores are finally settling down here. I am so glad that Genie is finally getting a few days off. She needs it and she so deserves it!

Genie brought me a couple of little elephants to join the herd.

Have a nice day🌞
